According to the L.A. Times article, published today by Faith E. Pinho, Laguna Beach has approved a new plan geared toward making the building development process much smoother for home and building owners in Laguna Beach.

The approved plan includes:

  • Adding new planners
  • Changing hours for the planning counter
  • Amending the city code to streamline processing
  • Taking steps toward making the project reviews process easier
  • Informing applicants early on about potential problems with their projects
  • Streamlining the approval process through the Community Development Department
  • Adding 3 positions to the planning department

According to the article, some of these changes are being paid for with the additional revenue brought in by the 5% increase in the city’s building permit fees and the 15% increase in zoning fees.
